Employees

I believe that someone once said that, “It’s your employees that make or break your business.” For it is these people, your team members, that work with your clients day in and day out. It is frightening just how much business can be lost (profits) from one employee not up to speed with what you think “Customer Service” should be in your location.

In Solis, we treat the employee part of the business equation seriously and with great detail. More than just a simple login, employee information is tracked through each transaction, audited for abnormal activities, and can provide an incentive to move products.

Taking a look at the employee editor below, you will see the standard list of fields one would need in a tanning / salon operation: ID, name, address, phones, hire date, login and so forth. What I hope you notice is some of the other features in Solis, that might just surprise you.

Fingerprint ID

For instance, the Fingerprint button located in the middle of the window (left side). Solis has the ability to log your employees into the system with a simple finger touch on a pad. That’s right, touch the fingerprint pad and bam, you’re logged in. As a business owner, I am sure that you want to know exactly which employee performed which transaction. Using a fingerprint ID system is fool proof and you will never here this phrase again, “they must have used my login.” The best part is the fingerprint ID pad is only about $100.

Access Privileges

Another tab I hope you noticed was the “Access Privileges” tab located in the middle of the window. We have taken the approach that you may want to customize the access to your Solis system by employee and uniquely for each individual. Rather than having levels of access (preformed and constrained), we offer you privileges that you can toggle on and off as you see fit. To save you time, you can copy the access privileges from one employee to another if you desire.

Services Work Schedule

The “Work Schedule” tab is where you setup what services the employee can perform, and what date and time they are available for these services. You can view this information in one-hour, thirty-minute, and fifteen-minute increments. Flagging a time frame is as simple as dragging and right-clicking the mouse.

Time Clock

The time clock feature in Solis is your way to track the hours your employees have worked. The In/Out Board shows you who is clocked in and will be where your team goes to clock in or out of the system. With a fingerprint pad, you simply touch your finger to the pad, otherwise you select yourself (as the employee) and type in your password.

To quickly view the employee’s work history, you visit the “Work History” tab in the employee editor window. The time punches and accumulated time for the shift is displayed.

Auditing

Solis keeps a watchful eye out on your business and logs any abnormal activities in the system. You can narrow your log entries by date, employee and/or by the type of event. Discovering abnormal activities early is key to correcting the situation before it costs you money.

Commissions

A great way to move a certain product or service is to provide an incentive to the person in front of the client. Providing a reward system to your employees really motivates them to take action.

The commission system in Solis can be configured in a many different ways. First you choose what products and services you want to provide an incentive on. This can be a specific item or can be a group of items (department).

The next step is to determine if you want to provide a commission on every sale or when they hit certain level. For instance, you may want to provide a 2% commissions when they sell 25 items in a month or sell $450 of the product.

The reward itself is set with the “Commission Type” by setting either a percentage of the sale or a flat dollar amount.

The final steps are to set a start and ending date for this commission. This could be ongoing or you may want to reward them differently each month. It’s up to you.

I believe that any way you reward your team, out of the normal pay check, goes a long way to insuring they provide great customer service and move the products and services you want them to each month.
