Merchandise
What would your tanning salon be without skin care productions from lotions to bronzers?
A nice profit can arise from these product sales and Solis gives you the tools to
maximize your profits in this area.
Solis can easily help you determine what products are moving and what products are
collecting dust. And, it can help you provide incentives such as special discounts,
and cross-brand promotions.

The promotion system is quite amazing in that you can
group any products, tanning packages, memberships, and/or services and provide a
discount incentive. For example, you could provide a bronzer at ½ price when people
sign up for a membership, or perhaps one could buy a specific lotion and get a specific
bronzer free. The ways to bring clients into your stores with promotions is nearly
limitless.
Departments
Solis gives you the ability to break down your entire merchandise stock into “departments”.
These departments you define and will help you track how each is performing over
time. For instance, you may want to break out lotions, bronzers, conditioners, and
eye care.

Manufacturer Search
You have probably seen certain products get hot for a while, then another product
hits a spurt, then another. As you know, skin care products are all about the packaging
and the appeal it has with the client.
Solis can provide you a quick look at all the items you sell by a certain manufacturer.
During a product search, you can limit the results to a specific manufacturer, this
way you can quickly list off all the products that company X has to offer.

In addition, you can limit the results of this search to a department, so if your
client is comparing, say bronzers, your team will have all the bronzers your company
sells on one window.
Quantities
Solis has all the fields you have come to see in most POS systems and a few that
may surprise you.
- On Hand
- On Order Reorder
- Point Stocking Level
- Measure (how your purchase the item, each, case, so on)
- Purchase Quantity (how many come in the measure)
- Current Cost
- Last Cost
- 2nd Last Cost
- Retail Price
- Product Notes
You will see that Solis maintains two separate note fields. One that appears when
you are editing the product, and one that appears during a transaction. The transaction
notes are useful in that you can remind your clerk about something particular to
the item.
Purchase History
How many times have you gone back to look at your prior purchase history on an item
before placing a new order? Well, Solis made this task easy, by providing a Tab
right on the merchandise editor that will list all of your prior purchases. The
information includes the PO number, date how many you ordered, how many you received,
the unit cost and the extended cost.

Sale History
Another Tab on the merchandise editor is the Sale History Tab. This tab shows you
each time this product has sold and provides you with the transaction number, date,
quantity sold, retail amount, and unit cost.
Purchase Orders
Where would you be without an automated purchase order system? A more pressing question
is are you still walking around looking at stock to find out what you need to order?
In any case, Solis provides you with a Purchase Order system that will make this
task easier.
In Solis, you can create purchases order manually by running a reorder report and
entering the products on the PO detail line. Or, you can use the Generate Reorder
PO system that automatically creates a PO for each vendor and assigns the necessary
number to purchase for each product under the reorder point.
Once you have a PO created, you can print it out on paper, copy it to the Windows
clipboard, or export the information to a CSV file format to Email to your vendors.
Receiving Merchandise
When the products arrive, getting them into Solis for sale is quite simple. You
can receive the entire PO at once, if all the items are present, or receive selected
items on the PO. We made it even easier by giving you the ability to scan the product’s
UPC while receiving products, to insure accuracy.
Pending Items
One feature we find helpful is the Pending Items list. A window at the bottom of
the Purchase Order search shows you any items that have not been received and shows
you which PO the item(s) are on.
