Promotions
Every tanning salon retailer runs promotions from time-to-time to generate additional foot traffic
and ultimately increase profits. Solis has a promotions feature that enables you
to automatically adjust the pricing on a merchandise item, service, or tanning package.
You
can choose the start and end dates and what days of the week the promotion is active
(valid). What is interesting is that you can build a promotion for a single item
or you can group several items together to form a package. For instance you may
want to give away an item when the customer purchases these two other items.
Once you set up the promotion, the pricing is automatically adjusted on qualifying
transactions. An icon appears to the left of the item who's pricing has been adjusted
by a promotion.
The customer's receipt shows the original price for the item and the amount the
"Promo" subtracted from the original price. In this example receipt, you can see
the "Promo" being shown on a separate line so you customer knows he/she is getting
the promotion price.

Coupons
Using coupons to drive traffic to your business is another great idea, and the Solis
software
helps you apply the coupons as they come in and tracks the number you have redeemed.
You
set up coupons to provide a percentage off the original price, a dollar amount off
the original price, or reprice the item to a specific price. And you set the valid
date range for each coupon
.
You can limit the redemption of a coupon to "one per visit" or you can limit the
coupon to a number of uses per number of days. For example, you could limit one
coupon redemption per day (for each customer, or you could limit the coupon redemption
to once per customer (for the life of the coupon).
Each coupon has a source field where you can record how the coupon was distributed.
For example, TV guide ad, Yellow Pages ad, radio spot, or direct mailer. If you
know the circulation of the coupon (number sent) you will enter the
number issued,
so later you can compare the number of redemptions verses the number issued (ratio).
The transaction window indicates each item that has a coupon applied to it by an
icon to the left of the ID Number. Similar to the promotion icon described above.
The customer receipt shows the original amount for the item and the coupon amount,
this way the customer will know that he or she received the discount (coupon) price.

Discounts
There may be times where you need to provide a discount to a customer for a variety
of reasons. With the discount feature in Solis, you can apply a percentage discount
to a line item on-the-fly
.
When
you apply the discount, Solis will prompt you to enter a percentage off the regular
price, and will show the computed discounted price before you apply the discount
to the item.
When you apply a discount to a line item, the discount icon will appear on to the
left of the product description.
The
customer's receipt will show the original price of the item and the discount percentage
and the discount amount.
Gift Cards
Gift cards are a powerful tool to help you in your business. For one, they can increase
your customer base when given as a gift (from an existing customer) to a non customer.
Second, you get the money before you deliver the product or service. Third, national
statistics show that only 85% of the money on gift cards is redeemed for products
and services. This means that 15% of gift card sales could be all profit; this is
on top of the markup on the products they do purchase with the gift card. And finally,
getting a gift card in your customer's wallet means that your company name will
be in front of their face more often.
Solis has a gift card system similar to
the what you have seen in the big department stores. Customers can purchase gift
cards, purchase items, check their balance, and add additional money to the card.
And all of this takes place right inside Solis with no third party fees or additional
machines on your counter.
When it comes to the gift card itself, you can create your own gift card (that we
will produce) or you can use almost any other gift card with a mag strip. While
a generic gift card will work, don't miss your chance to really create an image
